History of Parish of St. Joseph
- Established September 19, 1879
- First resident priest 1888
- Corner stone of 1st church building July 1889
- Rectory built 1895
- School opened in 1917 with the help of .the Grand Rapids Dominicans. The high school closed in 1960. The present school building was built in 1960-61. Two additions were added to the school building, in i965-66 and in 2000.
- Present church was built in 1956-57 and dedicated May 30, 1957.
- At its inception, the parish was part of the Diocese of Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 1938, the parish became part of the newly established Diocese of Saginaw until 1972 when the Diocese of Gaylord was established. The present bishop is
